4 Coffee Beers to Enjoy on National Coffee Day

Guys, I love coffee beers. Traditionally mixed with a stout, of course it’s a natural fit for me. And also I just love the taste of coffee. Coffee beers are fun to drink in the morning - take that Morning Wood on your sunrise hike! - or any time you’re craving that good coffee flavor. Here are 3 local Minnesota coffee beers plus a bonus - one of my faves from Founders.

1. Banshee Cutter from Insight

A GOLDEN ALE with coffee! I am obsessed with this trend right now. The light body with the coffee flavor is such a fun pairing. There’s a bit of honey flavor in there as well. This beer is a chance for all you light-beer drinkers to get on this coffee train.

2. Coffee Bender from Surly

As they say, it’s never to early to get Surly. Coffee Bender is a classic. They take Guatemalan coffee and add it to their Bender brown ale for a smooth and surprisingly mild finish.

3. Cold Press Black Coffee Ale from Bent Paddle

Bent Paddle partnered with Duluth Coffee Company for this one, adding in their “Crazy Juice” cold press to the original black ale. This one is a bit thicker than the Coffee Bender and packs a bit more punch of flavor and alcohol - 6% ABV. That’ll wake you up in the morning

4. Breakfast Stout from Founders

A double chocolate coffee oatmeal stout?! It’s an imperial stout, so save this one for dessert. With TWO different types of coffee, strong chocolate notes and a smooth finish, it’s the perfect beer to wrap up your National Coffee Day celebration.
