#treatyoself: Indeed's Rum King

It miiiight be my favorite beer. Indeed’s Rum King comes out every year in October. It’s an imperial stout aged in rum barrels. It’s black, thick and heavy and it’s the perfect beer to #treatyoself.

The first thing you smell is the rum. It’s strong, but then it’s balanced out with all sorts of sweetness - toffee, vanilla, chocolate and coffee flavors come through and the maltiness smooths it out.

Rum King is brewed with the same recipe each year but the taste varies slightly due to the aging conditions and the rum barrels. It started as part of Indeed’s derailed series and was originally available only in bomber bottles. Starting last year they canned it in 12 oz cans which are sold in four-packs. This year, I splurged and stocked up on two packs. Hopefully I can draw them out and save them for special occasions

Though it is a bit pricey, I recommend heading to the taproom or picking up a 4-pack this year before they’re gone. You deserve it.
