All the Things I did in Europe

Fair warning, this post is not about beer! I wrote recently about my beer experiences in London, from my first ever trip to Europe (!!), but I got some questions about the rest of the trip so I thought I'd share a quick post of everything we did in the six days we visited Paris and London.

Day 1: Paris

  • Landed at the airport, took the train into Paris and checked into our AirBNB, in the 9th Arrondissement.
  • Our first meal in Paris was VERY American. Burgers and Brooklyn Lagers at Camion Qui Fume.
  • Walked around until we found the Louvre. Spent the afternoon exploring.
  • Wine and dinner at Freddy's Wine Bar.
  • More wine! back at the AirBNB.

Day 2: On to London

  • Since our flights were in and out of Paris, we sandwiched a trip to London in between! Took the train under the chunnel to London. I only got a little motion sick.
  • Checked into the AirBNB and went exploring. Walked around and saw the sites: The Eye, The Thames, The Tower of London.
  • Beer! at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese.
  • The best meal of our trip: Dinner at Dishoom.

Day 3: London

  • Mike's big goal was to get a full english breakfast and we found the most perfect place to experience it. E. Pellicci is an old Italian cafe that serves English food. It was tiny and cramped and we shared our table with some old English dudes. So much fun.
  • Next was another highlight for Mike: Olympic Stadium. We took a tour of West Ham's home field, which was preeetty neat.
  • We got back and changed for our evening. First stop: drinks at the Hotel Savoy.
  • More drinks at Radio Rooftop Bar.
  • Then on to the National Theatre. We rushed student tickets to Amadeus and got seats in the second row, right in the middle.

Day 4: London

  • More rooftop fun with breakfast at Duck & Waffle. Crazy views!
  • Explored some local craft beer at Craft Beer Co.
  • The Tate Modern. Maybe my favorite museum stop.
  • We also needed to try some fish & chips and bangers & mash. I forgot where we went for this but it was peak London.
  • Stopped at the corner store and tried a bunch of weird English snacks and beer while watching a movie at the AirBNB.

Day 5: Back to France

  • Back on the train over to Paris!
  • First stop of the day: The Eiffel Tower, duh! We got Nutella crepes and drank hot wine on a bench while we waited for our tour to take us all the way to the top!
  • There was a bakery right next to our airBNB! We picked up a baguette, some macarons and wine. #JustFrenchThings
  • We went out for dinner at Le Bosquet. The charcuterie was amaze.

Day 6: Last full day in Paris!

  • We stopped by the bakery and ate breakfast on our walk to Musee D'Orsay.
  • Visited Shakespeare & Co. to do some book shopping! I bought a graphic biography about Josephine Baker and Mike got Origin of the Species. (Thanks for the recommendation, Maddie!)
  • Next was more touristing at Notre Dame. Umm, it's crazy in person you guys.
  • Grabbed some grub (and our obligatory bottle of wine) at St. Regis.
  • Then we waited TWO HOURS in line to see The Catacombs. I complained a lot when we were in line but it was crazy and worth it!
  • Dinner for our final evening was at Les Cocottes and we went all out. I need to eat more french food.

Then we flew home! It was such a quick trip but we packed in a good baseline so we can delve even deeper next time we go. I can't wait. What travel recommendations do you have for London or Paris? What big things did we miss?
