7 Beers I'm Drinking This Fall
I would say fall is the most universally-loved season. And sure, I love layers and scarves and blankets and soups, but you already know that the beer is the best part. Seasonal drinking is my jam all year long, but even more so in the fall. I’m leaning in HARD to fall beers this year, and these are the ones that will be on heavy rotation.
1. Southern Tier Warlock
Imperial Stout
8.6% ABV
Lakewood, NY
Starting you off with the GOAT. Pumpkin. Imperial. Stout. All my favorite things in one. It’s smooth, it’s got a hint of pumpkin spice, it’s surprisingly easy to drink. Definitely one to sip by the fire as the nights get cold
2. Dogfish Head Punkin Ale
Brown Ale
7.0% ABV
This is just a solid pumpkin ale. It’s got notes of pumpkin and brown sugar. I think this is the one my sister described as tasting like dead leaves. Which I feel could be a compliment if you love all things fall and fall-flavored?
3. Breckenridge Autumn Ale
Brown Ale
7.0% ABV
Very similar to the Punkin Ale, this Autumn Ale from Breckenridge Brewing is a bit sweeter, maltier, nuttier.
4. Bad Weather Tippin It Down
ESB with Earl Grey Tea
5.0% ABV
Cold weather = hot beverages = tea. An ESB with earl grey tea just feels right this time of year. It’s an easy drinker made complex with floral and spice notes. A great alternative to the pumpkin madness.
5. Deschutes Hopzeit
Autumn IPA
7.0% ABV
If it’s Marzen-inspired, then I just might be willing to choose an IPA. It’s an IPA but with traditional German malts and hops! So I mean, it’s an IPA but balanced.
6. Elysian Night Owl
Pumpkin Ale
6.7% ABV
Yooooo, this ale is brewed with pumpkin puree and juice! Then, they add ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice. All the fall flavors coming together to give you a warm, flannel hug.
7. Shiner Oktoberfest
Marzen
5.7% ABV
You know I had to do it. Shiner is so dependable for a classic delivery on a style. Their oktoberfest is no different. A very good choice when you need a solid beer-flavored beer this fall.
