Venn Brewing is Longfellow's New Watering Hole

Earlier this week, I made a trip to the newly opened Venn Brewing in the Hiawatha neighborhood of Minneapolis, right off the blue line of the light rail. With an impressive 13 beers to kickoff their offerings, Venn has something for everyone and hopes to become the new neighborhood watering hole.

Housed in a retail space on the first floor of an apartment building, Venn has a bit of a different feel than the warehouse spaces that seem to be the defining style of the Minneapolis taproom. But even in that retail space, on a high traffic corner, inside it feels homey and comfortable. It also fills a bit of a craft beer desert in that part of the city.

My boyfriend Mike and I split a couple flights, sampling their black lager, blood orange witbier, citra mosaic IPA, session IPA, winter ale, porter, raspberry sour and petite saison. As you can see, they’re definitely keeping a variety of styles. Rounding out the lineup is the golden ale, pale ale, pilsner and rye IPA. My favorite was the raspberry sour, Mike liked the session best.

Venn is owned by husband and wife team Connie and Kyle Sisco. The couple bought the space this summer and worked the past six month to get it opened before the holidays. Venn is named for the Norwegian word for friend, and they chose the fox as their brand symbol because of the fox’s tendency to live communally.

We had a great time at Venn and will definitely be back again soon. It’s definitely worth the stop if you’re looking to try Minneapolis’s newest watering hole.
