Beer Cocktail: Make Your Own Grapefruit Radler
I don’t know if you know this about me but I am… not a chef. I’m just not confident when it comes to cooking and creating in the kitchen - it’s something I’m working on! That’s why I’m so grateful to have a boyfriend and friends who want to cook and get together for dinner so I have an excuse to make everyone cocktails. And in my case, they’re usually going to involve beer.
As kind of a last hurrah for the summer in the city - we’ll be up at the lake next weekend - we threw a backyard get together complete with brats, a million salads and the most delicious chicken kebabs. Maybe Mike and I should team up to do drink and food pairing recipes??? Wow, what a spark of inspiration. Now I’m hungry.
Anyway, in searching for a beer cocktail that is easy and summer-y, I stumbled upon Tattersall Distilling’s Cabin Cocktail book. I love that they included a couple beer cocktails in this edition! I decided on the Grapefruit Radler. And, like, I know you can buy radlers pre-canned and that’s much easier, but those ones have like 3% alcohol by volume! If you want to take things to the next level and make your own radler, give this one a try.
I took Tattersall’s single-serve recipe, which they suggest you can make right in the beer can (!!), and bulked it up for pitcher-serving. Because that is the classy thing to do at a backyard dinner party! Ok, and to make this baby, it’s so easy. Take some Tattersall Grapefruit Crema liqueur, some lemon juice, and your choice of pilsner. I went with a local classic from Schell’s. Make sure all the ingredients are well-chilled before mixing/serving! Give her a good stir and savor the last days of summer with your best buds.
