The best time of the year is upon us, folks. Though the sun is still shining and the temps remain high, a seasonal change is happening in liquor stores, taprooms and bars across the country: it’s time for fall beers. And here, my friends, is my poetic tribute to the beers that I love.

An Ode to Fall Beers

Oh, AMBER GODDESSES!

Malty comfort when the wind cools

As we reach for our beanies and scarves, we also reach for you,

a warm accessory for the changing clime

Oh, SKILLFUL COMPANIONS!

Deft in your ability to mingle and schmooze

A stout, an ale, a lager, a porter

Your pumpkin flavor complements them all

Oh, TRANSIENT BEINGS!

Your time with us is fleeting; time we must savor while we can

We cling to your toasty caramel goodness

Until the snow falls and the siren’s song calls out to us,

“It’s time to switch to stouts and porters”
